BTR-82 patrols — Sakhal PvE
A hostile BTR drives a set loop on the winter island, marked on the map. It shoots, escorted by AI. Destroy it for crates. This page is PvE only.
This is Sakhal, not Chernarus
Chernarus runs the same BTR in temperate terrain. Open the Chernarus BTR guide if that is the server you play.
Patrols spawn on their own
A hostile BTR-82 drives a fixed loop on Sakhal. You do not call it in. One patrol at a time. It is marked on the map and it shoots. It can appear even with very few players online.

Three levels
The hull colour and the map marker tell you which one you drew. The nastier the BTR, the better the crates — and the more AI.
- Easy — olive hull, green marker, 2 AI.
- Medium — tan hull, orange marker, 3 AI.
- Boss — red-tiger hull, red marker, 5 AI in full NBC. Loop around the toxic camp — bring NBC.
AI escort
Every BTR comes with Expansion AI NPCs around the vehicle. They shoot, they loot, unlimited ammo. No toxic zombies — only these AI.
- Easy — 2 AI.
- Medium — 3 AI.
- Boss — 5 AI in full NBC (suit, hood, gloves, boots, gas mask + filter). They live in the gas.
How to destroy it
Shoot it. Rifles work if you commit; launchers and explosives finish it faster. Stay off the front of the cannon — it returns fire. Fight from cover: the island is cold and the BTR is not. When it dies you get:
- a burning wreck with crates, plus loot from the AI (guns and kits)
- a server-wide notification — everyone sees who killed it

After the kill
- The wreck stays for a while: Easy about 15 min · Medium about 20 min · Boss about 30 min. Loot, then get warm.
- Another patrol can spawn after about 30 minutes.
- This is Sakhal PvE: nobody is coming to raid your base over it. Other survivors can still race you to the crates — bag the loot and move.
